The essentials — before you request help

  • Enquiring is not a booking. Sending a form or WhatsApp request does not dispatch anyone.
  • Know the charges first. A call-out, travel, assessment, battery, fitting or towing charge must be explained and agreed before it becomes payable, subject to applicable law.
  • You decide. No battery replacement or other paid work starts without your authorisation.
  • Your consumer rights remain intact. These terms do not remove rights provided by South African law.

1. Who provides the help?

KZN Battery Delivery receives enquiries about battery checks, battery replacement and delivery, jump-starts and roadside assistance around Durban and surrounding areas.

Depending on the request, we may help coordinate an enquiry with a battery supplier, technician, fitter or roadside provider. Before you accept a paid quote, you should be told who will supply the battery or perform the service, what is included and who will issue the relevant receipt or invoice.

Where an independent provider or retailer is involved, their role and applicable terms should be identified before you authorise the work. This description does not remove any legal responsibility that KZN Battery Delivery or another supplier may have.

2. Enquiries, availability and booking

You can describe a problem, ask for a replacement-battery quote or request roadside help using the available contact options. Sending an enquiry is not confirmation of a booking, attendance, battery stock or a response within a particular time.

  • Availability depends on opening hours, staff and technician availability, travel distance, supplier stock and local conditions.
  • An urgent WhatsApp request is a request for a prompt response, not a guarantee of a response or arrival time.
  • A visit or battery purchase becomes confirmed only after the responsible provider communicates the service, price, arrangements and your acceptance.

Outside confirmed availability hours, you may still submit a regular enquiry for a later reply where that channel is available.

3. Quotes, prices and payment

There is no charge merely for submitting a website enquiry. Before a chargeable visit or other paid work, you should receive the relevant price or estimate and an opportunity to approve it.

Depending on the agreed service, a quote may include:

  • Call-out and travel or distance charges.
  • Diagnosis or testing charges, if lawfully chargeable and agreed in advance.
  • The battery or other parts, delivery and fitting or installation.
  • Roadside assistance, towing or third-party provider charges, if separately arranged.

No surprise work: Any estimate, diagnostic fee and proposed additional work must be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law. If the scope or cost changes, the provider must explain the new estimate and obtain your authorisation before continuing where required.

Prices, stock and availability may change until a particular quotation is accepted. The responsible supplier or provider must confirm the final price, any applicable taxes, payment arrangements and supporting receipt or invoice. Do not send bank-card details in the general enquiry form.

4. Roadside visits and safe access

For efficient assistance, please provide the vehicle make and model, the symptoms, your suburb or nearest landmark and any access restrictions. You can share precise GPS location only if you choose to.

  • Ensure the vehicle is in a location where attendance and work can be carried out safely. Tell us about underground parking, restricted entrances or a hazardous roadside position.
  • A jump-start is not a guaranteed repair. Starting problems can also come from the alternator, starter, electrical system or other causes.
  • Battery fitting and towing depend on suitability, equipment and provider availability. Towing is not guaranteed unless specifically confirmed.
  • In an immediate personal-safety emergency, seek assistance from the appropriate emergency service rather than relying on an enquiry form.

A technician may explain that the requested work cannot be carried out safely or that a different service is needed. Any resulting charges remain subject to what was disclosed, agreed and lawfully chargeable.

5. Battery supply and fitting

Battery recommendations depend on the vehicle's specifications, the existing battery, the applicable fitment requirements and supplier availability.

The quote should identify the proposed battery, price, included fitting or delivery, and any applicable commercial warranty details. A battery is not ordered or installed merely because you requested pricing. Please check the agreed product and arrangements before payment or installation.

6. Consumer Battery Warranty Guide

When purchasing a new battery, please take note of KZN Battery Delivery's battery warranty claim process below. The manufacturer's warranty conditions are separate from your statutory consumer rights.

  1. Proof of purchase. Proof of purchase must accompany the claim.
  2. Correct vehicle. The manufacturer's warranty is offered for use in the correctly specified vehicle.
  3. Specified use. Use of the battery for anything other than its specified use is excluded from the manufacturer's warranty.
  4. Misuse, damage or tampering. The manufacturer's warranty excludes misuse and damage, including damage marks, cracks, arcing, damage to the terminals or signs of tampering. The cause of the problem must be assessed; these exclusions do not remove statutory rights that apply to a defect.
  5. Manufacturing defects or faults. Claims under the manufacturer's warranty are assessed for manufacturing defects or faults.
  6. Charging before testing. Under KZN's warranty-testing process, a battery with a voltage below 12.5V must first be charged overnight before electronic testing and warranty checks can be completed. Arrange the testing process with KZN; this is not an instruction to charge a damaged battery yourself.
  7. Call-out, delivery and collection fees. Call-out, delivery and pick-up fees are not included in the manufacturer's warranty process. Where the manufacturer is found not to be at fault, a call-out fee for diagnosis and time spent on-site applies only where it is lawful, disclosed and agreed. This does not transfer to you a return or remedy cost that the law requires the supplier to bear.

Claim handling: KZN Battery Delivery facilitates the battery claim process on behalf of the manufacturer. The manufacturer assesses and approves or declines claims under its own warranty. That decision does not remove your separate statutory rights or prevent you from pursuing an applicable remedy against the responsible seller or supplier.

Your legal rights remain intact. The claim procedures, exclusions and charges above do not limit rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African consumer law. The manufacturer's warranty is additional to, not a replacement for, those rights.

7. Changes and cancellations

You may withdraw an unconfirmed enquiry by telling us. If a booking has already been accepted or a technician dispatched, notify the provider as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change arrangements.

Any cancellation or travel charge must be reasonable, properly disclosed and permitted by applicable law. It is not automatically payable merely because an enquiry was submitted. Certain consumer cancellation and cooling-off rights may apply depending on how the transaction was concluded and the circumstances.

8. Your enquiry details and privacy

We use the information you submit to understand the problem, respond to your enquiry and, where needed, communicate essential details to the relevant supplier or service provider. This may include your name, contact details, vehicle information, general location and the help requested.

Precise GPS sharing is optional and should happen only when you choose it. Please do not include unnecessary sensitive personal or payment information in your message. For further details or requests about your personal information, use our published privacy notice and contact channels.

9. Queries, complaints and legal rights

If something goes wrong, please contact us using the channel used for the enquiry, or contact the supplier or service provider identified in your quote or invoice. Keep any receipts, photographs, quote details and relevant messages so the matter can be investigated.

If the matter cannot be resolved directly, you may use the consumer complaint or dispute-resolution avenues available under South African law, as appropriate to the issue.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or reduces rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

This page explains the general enquiry process. Any agreed quote should identify the responsible supplier or service provider and the particular paid goods or services. Where an applicable law requires more favourable rights, the law prevails.
